Operator BP has even established a special project — Valhall Well Redesign — to try to overcome the issues, according to a Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) spokesman.
He added that BP has also “initiated several measures” to monitor problems with shallow gas at the project and that the PSA is being kept informed about the issue.
In addition to BP’s own efforts, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) and the PSA have established a joint task force to help overcome “the well challenges and problems with shallow gas” at Valhall.
