BP has set up a $100 million fund to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated through its upstream oil and gas operations, writes Russell McCulley.

The UK supermajor’s new Upstream Carbon Fund will make the money available over three years to pay for projects that reduce emissions of environmentally harmful gases such as carbon dioxide and methane.

The company said it is inviting employees and divisions in its upstream business to “come up with ideas and propose projects” for the funding.
