BP has been given the go-ahead by UK authorities for its Alligin tie-back development in the West of Shetland area, where start-up is expected in 2020, writes Eoin O'Cinneide.

The London-headquartered supermajor is targeting 20 million barrels of oil equivalent at the scheme, which forms part of the Greater Schiehallion Area.

BP confirmed early this week that it has received approval from the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) regulator for the project, part of the company’s plan to develop satellite fields through existing hubs.
