Sources said the move could net the UK supermajor up to $8 billion in cost savings from the original US Gulf field development plan that was based on the Big Dog spar.
It is understood bids are scheduled to land on 13 September for pre-front-end engineering and design on the TLP, bringing that solution on par with the semisub concept that sources said has already been studied for the project in recent weeks.
