UK supermajor BP has scheduled more drilling in the Mancos shale in the San Juan basin after reporting an exceptional well that the company says could unlock a vast new gas play in the western US, writes Luke Johnson.
BP said it will spud from a three-well pad in November on its North-east Blanco Unit on federal lands in San Juan County, New Mexico, and hopes to complete the wells in 2018.
