BP has embarked on a drilling campaign that will include up to four exploration wells at the Neijiang-Dazhu block in southwestern China’s Sichuan basin, writes Xu Yihe.
An industry source said the UK supermajor is carrying out the programme under a three-year production sharing contract with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
BP does not have any crew of its own on the ground in China, so it has engaged CNPC’s Sichuan-based Chuanqing Drilling & Exploration to drill the wells.
