The founding investors of BPE are confident the South-East Asian country holds larger and more gas prospects than Australia, according to the company’s chief operating officer Elliot Yearsley.

Of the 334.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources in Indonesia, less than a third or 108.4 Tcf are proven reserves, according to data provided by BP Migas, Indonesia’s upstream regulatory body.

The largely unproven resource potential in Indonesia means new upstream start-ups such as BPE can choose to concentrate their limited resources on hydrocarbon exploration.
