Brazil sees UMS units rolling in

Before Proef, Petrobras had just three units — known in Brazil as floating shipyards and by the acronym UMS — in its fleet, but has contracted another six UMSs, mostly under long-term charters, and is looking for more.

Earlier this year, three flotels arrived in Brazil for Petrobras — the semi-submersible units OOS Gretha and OOS Prometheus, contracted with OOS International, and the catamaran-style semisub CSS Olympia from Brazilian newcomer GranEnergia.
