Brazilians were once notorious for their addiction to home-grown soap operas, and later reality TV. But nothing can quite match the dramatic value offered by the country’s long-running Car Wash probe.

The mother of all plea-bargain deals involving 77 executives from construction giant Odebrecht showed that Car Wash has become an entertainment sub-industry in its own right.

Newspapers and websites have created dedicated online forums for viewers to watch former chief executive Marcelo Odebrecht and his ilk point the finger at Brazil’s politicians, including current President Michel Temer, three former presidents and several likely presidential candidates.
