An onshore compression project to boost performance at Ineos’ Breagh gas field in the UK southern North Sea is expected to be sanctioned early next year, later than previously planned.

The update from non-operating partner Sterling Resources also said planning for a second phase of development at Breagh remains uncertain amid suppressed UK gas prices.

Sterling said a final investment decision on the compression installation work at the Teesside Gas Processing Plant (TGGP), which receives Breagh production, is now expected in the first quarter of 2017.
