ConocoPhillips has spudded a wildcat at the Busta prospect off Norway in the first probe of a three-well exploration effort.
The 25/7-7 well is being drilled by Transocean-owned semi-submersible Leiv Eiriksson in ConocoPhillips-operated production licence 782S near Vaar Energi’s Balder and Ringhorne fields in the North Sea.
The US independent has two other probes lined up at the Ennisberg and Hasselbaink prospects in the same area using the same rig, which has been chartered at a reported dayrate of $170,000 to March next year.
