Under former chief executive Soumo Bose, Gasol planned to develop gas in the Gulf of Guinea and export it in the form of liquefied natural gas.
However, for multiple reasons, that strategy failed.
Bose left the company in late 2009, and there was an interim period during which Gasol key shareholders thought long and hard before unveiling a new strategy centred on supplying gas to the West Africa market.
