Sri Lanka’s Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat (PRDS) claims that the decision on Cairn’s project gas price is likely to be reached within three months.
However, the gas price fixed for Cairn’s Mannar basin block will be project-specific and will not apply to future project developments in Sri Lanka, according to the PRDS.
“First of all, whatever gas price we come to under this particular project should not benchmark Sri Lanka’s gas prices,” says Saliya Wickramasuriya, PRDS director general.
