ExxonMobil has taken a decisive step at its multi-billion dollar Ca Voi Xanh (Blue Whale) gas-to-power project in Vietnam by inviting bids for front-end engineering and design work.

The US supermajor completed a pre-qualification exercise earlier in the year, and has issued the bid document to its qualified companies, said sources.

The selected companies are understood to include engineering majors such as TechnipFMC, WorleyParsons, McDermott, and others, said sources.

The FEED work on offer applies to the offshore field development, while the onshore element of the project is a separate exercise, they added.
