Cameroon was criticised this week for the deteriorating human rights situation in the oil-rich South-west and North-west Regions by the UK Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, which urged the government “to accept co-ordinated offers of bilateral, regional and international technical assistance".
The UK Mission, on behalf of 38 countries and the UN Human Rights Council, demanded the government release political detainees and initiate meaningful dialogue with all parties affected by the conflict in which Anglophone militias have mounted a separatist insurrection.
