The Permian basin in the US is seen by industry participants as running behind when it comes to building out gas infrastructure to link up the massive resource in the basin with demand centres, even though some new facilities are on the way.

Producers’ plans have to this point been driven by crude oil, and despite two new Kinder Morgan pipelines being built, more capacity is expected to be needed, panelists told a session at the CERAWeek by IHS Markit event in Houston last week.
