The move to offer Orphan basin acreage comes after last month's decision by the board to carry out a strategic environmental assessment (SEA) of the area, which is due for completion in early November, about one month before the call for bids closes.
The SEA will also cover the two other areas where acreage has been made available.
C-NOPB said it "will consider any recommendations made in the SEA report and where necessary may amend the call to ensure concerns are addressed".
