US company NRG Energy and its partners have completed start-up of a carbon capture project that is set to help Hilcorp Energy significantly boost production at a Gulf Coast oilfield.
Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said this week it had completed start-up of the Petra Nova CO2 Capture System project at the WA Parish coal-fired generating station in Thompsons, Texas.
Captured carbon dioxide will be sent via an 81-mile pipeline to the Hilcorp-operated West Ranch oilfield in Jackson County for enhanced oil recovery operations.
