Tullow Oil has cautioned that it will be “challenging” to sanction its South Lokichar oilfield project in Kenya by the end of this year unless faster progress is made with government approvals, writes Eoin O'Cinneide.
The Anglo-Irish independent last week termed “ambitious" its long-held target of sanctioning the scheme by the end of 2019 although still doable.
It said it is finalising front-end engineering and design studies for both the upstream and midstream elements, with environmental and social impact assessments on track for submission at the end of the current quarter.
