Almost a quarter of the $1 billion that Petrobras spends on R&D is being invested through Brazilian universities and, although incipient, university spin-offs.
The construction of advanced simulation and testing facilties is just one example of a trend that has reduced Petrobras’ reliance on flying researchers to overseas facilites such as Norway’s Marintek.
