The campaign will cover more than 9500 square kilometres, where Statoil and Petrobras won a total of six exploration blocks in the country's 11th oil and gas licensing round.
The Oceanic M/V Champion vessel will acquire the 3D data using advanced pre-stack depth migration technology.
Statoil operates four of the six blocks covered in the seismic programme and has minority stakes in the other two permits, operated by Petrobras.
