Authorities in Uzbekistan are taking urgent steps to increase control over how gas is consumed by end users, launching campaigns to reverse decades of wastefulness and chronic seasonal shortages, writes Vladimir Afanasiev.
According to the head of the Ministry of Energy’s inspectorate for control over the usage of oil products and gas, Nodyr Agzamov, domestic customers have been caught largely off guard by sweeping reforms in the oil and gas sector aimed to introduce market principles and pricing mechanisms.
