Chesapeake Energy has fracked its first well in the Rogersville shale play in what is seen as a key test of the emerging exploration push to unlock the formation that runs through portions of Kentucky and West Virginia.
The US shale giant brought in C&J Energy Services, which is controlled by drilling giant Nabors Industries, to fracture three vertical stages in its Law-1 well in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
