US supermajor Chevron is understood to be in advanced negotiations with Ensco for the charter of a high-specification rig to carry out development drilling at the Frade field in the Campos basin off Brazil.
Sources told Upstream that Chevron is poised to sign a contract to secure the drillship Ensco DS-12, known as the Atwood Achiever before the completion of Ensco’s takeover of Atwood Oceanics.
