The US supermajor has been in talks with PetroVietnam for about five years on the terms of a domestic gas supply agreement and other issues, but according to well-placed sources has reached the end of its tether and is looking to discontinue its participation in Block B.
Ideally, it would like to find a buyer for its working interest, rather than relinquish it to the government.
