A revival of upstream activities in Angola is gaining ground with US supermajor Chevron in the market for a rig to carry out a variety of work in Block 14, writes Iain Esau.

The operator is on the hunt for a semi-submersible for the permanent intervention and abandonment of wells plus drilling, completion and workover operations.

According to Chevron’s requirements, the semisub must be either anchor-moored or dynamically positioned, able to work in water depths of 1000 to 5000 feet.
