Chevron is understood to have selected a preferred bidder to build the topsides of a new semi-submersible production platform to develop the Anchor discovery in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico.
The US has chosen Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, Texas for the job, Upstream understands.
Chevron had already firmed up plans for hull construction with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.
