US supermajor Chevron has decided against pursuing an extension for the Makassar Strait block off Indonesia, suggesting there could be a further revision to its proposed multi-billion dollar Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) giant gas project.

Chevron had earlier sought an extension post January 2020 for the Makassar Strait production sharing contract, but this plan has now been shelved.

The block is home to the operator’s producing West Seno field, to which Bangka — the only one of the five IDD fields today on stream — is tied back.
