“The earliest a pilot production could take place in Poland is 2013,” said David Jones, Chevron’s Eastern European shale gas project manager.
Chevron holds exploration licences in Poland, covering 1.1 million acres in the country’s south-east, near the Ukrainian border.
The company is currently carrying out 1600 square kilometres of 2D seismic on the area, which it started in October last year.
