US supermajor Chevron has launched what looks set to be a very long tender process for an enhanced oil recovery platform at its Captain field in the UK North Sea.
Industry sources said the operator has issued pre-qualification documents to multiple yards for the 14,000-tonne bridge-linked platform’s deck and jacket.
Replies are due back this month, said sources, but they pointed out that the supermajor is in no rush to move things forward and only plans to issue invitations to tender later.
