With Chevron already operating Gorgon, where it is now working with partners ExxonMobil and Shell towards a potential project sanction decision next year, the US supermajor is laying the ground for new operated LNG production capacity in Australia of 30 million tpa.
Chevron said the Iago-2 appraisal well was drilled on permit WA-16-R in the Carnarvon basin by semi-submersible drilling rig Ocean Bounty in relatively shallow waters of 117 metres.
