Chinese media reported that the powerful economic planning body the National Development & Reform Commission has called for a meeting with the country’s top pipeline owner and operator China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to discuss the possibility of nationalising its oil and gas pipelines.
Talks over the government taking over all the pipelines currently operated by CNPC have been dragging on for years amid an increased number of oil and gas investors who are keen to send their throughput to markets via pipelines currently controlled by CNPC.
