The Chinese government has decided to open its upstream oil and gas industry to more participants this year, breaking the monopoly held by three national oil companies over the country’s hydrocarbon resources.
The central government has endorsed a National Development & Reform Committee (NDRC) proposal to lift the ban on oil and gas exploration by non-national oil companies to actively introduce private company funding to boost oil and gas exploration.
