By mid-2015, China had built up its SPR to 26.1 million tonnes (190 million barrels), more than double the 12.43 million tonnes announced a year ago, according to the government’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Meanwhile, China has also doubled the number of SPR tank farms from four in 2014 to eight.
These tanks are located in the cities of Zhoushan and Zhenhai in Zhejiang province, Dalian in Liaoning, Qingdao in Shandong, Dushanzi in Xinjiang, Lanzhou in Gansu and Tianjin city, plus one underground facility in Huangdao.
