Murphy Oil is confident that its Cholula discovery has de-risked a new frontier area off Mexico, confirming it will return to the block for more appraisal and exploration, even if the pay found in Lower Miocene areas at the discovery was less than hoped.
The well was drilled to a depth of 8800 feet in Block 5, and came across approximately 185 feet of net pay.
