The slippage is the result of a change in bidding strategy coupled with another planned well and the company's focus on its Canyon Express subsea project in the region. TotalFinaElf went out for hull bids for a dry-tree unit earlier this summer with the intent to tender for the deck section separately. However, the company now has re-engaged its hull bidders -- Aker Maritime, ABB, Atlantia Offshore and Modec -- and is soliciting deck bids, which are due in two weeks.
Cloudy Matterhorn view
TOTALFINAELF'S aggressive schedule is slipping on its deep-water Matterhorn field development in the Gulf of Mexico. The French major is now targeting late fourth quarter for project sanction.
