Netherlands-based OOS International has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Merchant Heavy Industry (CMHI) covering construction of what it is claimed would be the world's largest semi-submersible crane and accommodation vessel (SSCV).

The new generation SSCV will incorporate two giant cranes, each with lifting capacity of 12,000 tonnes. They will be set up on the vessel 112 metres apart leaving enough deck space for storing equipment.
