Operator CNOOC Ltd is working flat out to fix a platform at the Panyu 30-1 gas field in the Pearl River Mouth basin that was damaged by an explosion on June 12.
Sources said the fire damage that has affected part of the equipment of the platform will take at least half a year to repair, and the field will not return to operation until early 2018.
