CNOOC International has lined up the Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean GreatWhite to drill an appraisal well on the Cragganmore gas discovery in the West of Shetland area this summer.
The news comes as the Chinese state-owned operator also prepares for drilling on the Howick oil prospect in the same region by the Island Drilling semisub Island Innovator.
A spokesman for regional unit CNOOC Petroleum Europe confirmed to Upstream that both wells are due to spud in the third quarter.
