China’s CNOOC International has pinpointed the location of its debut wildcat in the AGC joint development zone between Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.
However, sources said drilling will only start after the two governments wrap up long-running talks over a revised AGC treaty.
CNOOC’s exploration and Africa growth manager Katerina Garyfalou said the Gainde-1 wildcat is due to spud in 2020 in its AGC Profond licence, which is located in the highly prospective Mauritania-Senegambia-Guinea-Bissau-Conakry (MSGBC) basin.
