Industry officials said CNOOC foresees strong gas demand in northern Chinese cities this winter that will trigger increased LNG spot market purchases for distribution in northern China via facilities in Tianjin city.
Although the lease of the Cape Ann FSRU will expire in mid November, CNOOC is talking to Engie about a possible extension of the contract for three months until the first quarter of next year.
