China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) wants to increase oil and gas production from the South China Sea by 60% over the next six years, aiming to develop up to six new prospects by 2025, writes Xu Yihe.

Chairman Yang Hua said in a recent internal meeting that CNOOC has set a target to boost both reserves and production from now until 2025 in order to meet a government call to reduce reliance on imports to sustain domestic energy consumption.
