The company filed an application with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) earlier this month to use low-pressure steam flood technology instead of the high-pressure cyclic steam stimulation it used before.

CNR president Steve Laut said the company has developed mitigation plans to prevent bitumen emulsion leaks from occurring in the future.

It will modify steam strategies to, enhance subsurface pressure, and carry out seismic monitoring of the Grand Rapids formation.
