CNR, along with 50:50 joint venture partner North West Upgrading (NWU), submitted a joint proposal to the province to build and operate a refinery in central Alberta.
The two Calgary-based companies struck a deal in which NWU would be the operator of the facility and CNR would acquire 50% of the privately-owned junior’s assets. The deal is expected to close later this year.
