Petrobras was originally expecting to receive the offers on 3 August, but ended up giving contractors an additional three and a half weeks so they could have more time to work on their proposals. However, the company recently decided to delay the bidding process again, this time from 26 August to 16 September, said a source.
Petrobras is seeking at least one rig capable of drilling in water depths of 1200 metres and another rig with capacity to operate in up to 1500 metres of water, both able to drill to total depths of around 7000 metres.
