Well-placed sources said the race is now down to Bluewater and BW Offshore, after four other companies that had been invited to bid for Kitan appear to have fallen by the wayside.
The other four contenders were Bumi Armada, Fred Olsen Production, Swire Production and Teekay Petrojarl. Technical bids were submitted about three months ago and commercial offers are understood to have been opened in July.
