The UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) issued a Prohibition Notice against the Maersk Curlew on 1 June after vibrations caused a loss of integrity on a small bore drain downstream of the compressor leading to a hydrocarbon release.
Maersk FPSOs said the gas compression system is not critical to production but it had decided to keep the vessel shut-in to avoid excess gas being flared, limiting any environmental impact.
