A Luanda-based source close to the project said: "The gas release on 10 April was big and if it had ignited it would have destroyed the LNG plant, killing a lot of people at the facility and in Soyo town."
Another source familiar with the plant said: "There was no large explosion because they were lucky enough for there to be no spark."
