Shell is facing concern from the German government over controversial plans to leave parts of decommissioned platforms at its Brent field in the North Sea on the seabed, with UK authorities being urged to review their reported backing for the plan, writes Steve Marshall.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor intends to leave in place concrete gravity-base structures, together with footings, drill cuttings, oil and chemicals, for three of the four platforms at the North Sea field — Brent Bravo, Charlie and Delta.
