At the same time, MPU chief executive Kolbjorn Hoyland has announced "enhancements to the original design", aimed not least at improving its performance in the platform installation market, as opposed to the decommissioning market which was the original spur for this scheme.
All is set for the U-shaped vessel to be ready for work in the summer of 2009, Hoyland said.
